ENHANCEMENT OF MONETARY ALLOWANCE ATTACHED TO THE PRE-INDEPENDENCE GALLANTRY AWARDS

      The President has sanctioned for enhanced payment of monetary allowance at the following rates to all recipients, irrespective of rank and income, of the following pre-independence gallantry awards, with effect from 30 Mar 2011.

Particulars of Gallantry Awards

Revised rate of Monetary Allowance (Rupees per month)

Distinguish Service Order (DSO)

4,000/-

Indian Order of Merit (IOM)

4,000/-

Indian Distinguished Service Medal (IDSM)

4,000/-

Distinguished Service Cross (DSC)

2,800/-

Military Cross (MC)

2,800/-

Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) for officers

2,800/-

Distinguished Service Medal (DSM)

2,800/-

Military Medal (MM)

2,800/-

Distinguished Flying Medal (DFM) for other ranks

2,800/-

      Each bar to the decoration will carry the same amount of monetary allowance as admissible to the original award.  Other terms and conditions of payment of monetary allowances will continue to be governed by the order contained in MoD letter No. 7(67)/92/D(AG) dated 19 Apr 1999 and No. 7(42)/2006/D(AG) dated 14 May 2008.
