Introduction
Air Force Association was formed on September
15, 1980, as a non-political body and registered under the
Societies Registration Act of 1860, with a mandate to promote
the welfare of retired Air Force personnel, their families
and families of those who are deceased.
It has around 34,000 members and is functioning
on all India basis with 16 branches in various State capitals
and 2 abroad.
Besides promoting welfare of retired Air
Force personnel, the Association is also committed to preserve
the memories of its meritorious members and gallant air warriors.
The President of the Association, according
to the constitution, is always the last retiring Chief of
the Air Staff. |

To provide facilities
for those who have served in and retired from the Air
Force to maintain contact and fraternal relationship
between themselves.
-
To preserve the memory
of and to honour those who have died while in the Air
Force service or having served in the Air Force have
died after their retirement.
-
To acquire, preserve
and display articles of historical and educational value
concerning the Air Force.
-
To carry out charitable,
social, philanthropic, cultural, educational and other
activities for the benefit and welfare of the retired
fraternity and their families.

To assist the retirees/widows
in finding suitable employment or otherwise to help
them in their resettlement and rehabilitation. Also
to provide assistance to them in matters concerning
pension, grants, gratuities, allowances etc.

To inculcate amongst
the retirees/widows the spirit of self-help and assist
them in establishing small or medium size industries,
poultry and dairy farms, workshops, vehicle servicing
stations, transport services, commercial services or
other gainful activities in consultation with Dte. of
Resettlement, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India.

To establish and manage
alone or in co-operation with others, hostels, hospitals,
guest-houses, “SENIOR CITIZEN HOMES’ etc
for the retired fraternity, widows, other Air Force
personnel and their dependents.

To print and publish
or cause to be printed and published books, periodicals,
pamphlets, newspapers or any other publications and
to undertake production of or assist in the productions
of films, scripts, dramas, cultural shows etc, as may
be considered necessary for the promotion of the objects
of the Association.

To promote interest
in defence studies and in particular in the field of
national security, air power, military aviation, general
aviation and allied subjects.

To create interest in the Air Force and promote interest
in aviation amongst the public.

To create Trusts and
or other similar institutions, to award scholarships,
stipends, loans, financial assistance for promotion
of studies and research.

To subscribe to or
to become members of or otherwise cooperate with any
other association/associations in India or abroad whose
objects are similar to, or in part similar to the objects
of the Association.

To create awareness
amongst the public about the problems of ex-Air Force
personnel and their families and to enlist cooperation
from other institutions, organisations, establishments,
departments and other bodies for their resettlement
or otherwise to help them in solving their problems.

To place at the disposal
of the Government, the services of the Association or
any of its branches, to be utilized in the event of
wars, calamities, natural or otherwise, whether locally
or at the national level.

To hold periodical
conferences, meetings, seminars, lectures, exhibitions,
film shows on matters of interest to the Air Force or
the Ex-IAF personnel and their families.
-
To organize talks,
discussion, seminars (like PC Lal Memorial Lecture),
with participation of non-AF professionals, intellectuals
and general public on issues such as national security,
air power, military aviation, general aviation and allied
subjects.
